Custom orders do take longer at a rate of 14 to 24 weeks, please be patient with these orders as they are made by hand and are far superior to any machine made piece. Custom guitar leadtimes vary from six months to a year, at times we do run over due to many factors. What is most important to us is that you recieve just what you paid for, if this takes longer for us to do we do apologize, but it is necessesary, We would rather be late than to give you a guitar that looks and plays like it has been rushed.

  • Will B. Hefner Companies neck fit my guitar? Fender continues to use the same basic dimensions on their guitars that they used when they first started. Many other manufacturers have adopted these same dimensions into some of their own products (Ibanez, Kramer, ESP, Schecter, etc.). B. Hefner Company manufactures it's necks with the same dimensions as Fender®. B. Hefner Company does offer a neck to fit the 3-bolt body, these are made on a per order basis through our custom shop. To check compatibility of non Fender® instruments, the simplest method is direct comparison. In lieu of this, the critical dimensions for guitars are: Neck pocket depth 5/8”, length 3”, and width 2-3/16”. Scale length (measure from nut to 12th fret x 2) is 25-1/2”, distance from nut to 12th fret, 12 3/4”, to the heel (not extended fingerboard) is 18-7/16”. Distance from heel to midpoint of bridge saddle adjustment is 7-3/8”.
  • Some neck pockets differ in width usually within a few thousands of an inch, you need to remember that guitars are built of wood and will shrink and grow depending not only on the weather but also on the sanding and paint , B. Hefner is not responsible for the differences and will in no way be held liable for them. We will however ensure a perfect fit if you desire to send in your body for this reason.
  • The heel shape of Strat® necks is rounded at the end, Teles® are squared. Strat® necks will fit Tele® bodies but show a gap at the corners. Tele® necks may not intonate on a Strat® body without neck pocket modification.

The shape of a Strat® Heel is rounded The shape of a Tele® neck is squared
Note: All of our necks are supplied without mounting holes drilled. This allows you to perfectly match it to your body.
  • Is the fret work done? The leveling, dressing, crowning and polish does not come standard with our necks. This work is done to insure that the frets are all parallel to one another, this insures no fret buzz, even with the lowest action. Fret leveling generally needs to be done only in cases of very low action, or on maple fingerboards that are spray finished (to remove the finish).
